Seeing the northern lights is a treat itself, but seeing them in the Boundary Waters is even more special.
Having the wilderness as the foreground to a night sky filled with the flowing ribbons of charged particles excited by the solar wind from our sun seeping into the cracks of earths upper atmosphere. It's spectacular!
Of the many times I have had the pleasure to be in the BWCA I have only seen the aurora twice. This time was by far the best and strongest. Seeing green in the lights is most common, but seeing red is a special occurence. Red occurs highest up in our atmosphere.
Many options are available to fit on your wall. What better way to remind yourself to get out there and enjoy the wilderness and the night sky. Save the BWCA!
